The Atonement prayer opens with confession of inherited iniquity from the womb, then petitions Jehovah to make the wicked a corporate expiation and to destroy oppressors by the upright — a covenant exchange pattern. The Firstfruits prayer calls for the gathering of the dispersed and banished, framing that ingathering as a seasonal harvest tied to sowing and sprouting, aligning the physical gathering of the remnant with the appointed agricultural moedim cycle. Both prayers anchor petition in covenant memory: the Lord who established the feast, who knows hidden and revealed things, and who made covenant with Noah.
