THE BOOK OF MANTI
Chapter 1
Premium narration
1
Manti, youngest son of the prophet Oug, introduces himself as a witness of Christ's appearance at the temple in Mentina and as his father's successor in guarding the records. He recounts how he expanded and reinforced the archives, replacing the cramped cavities of Hagoth and Hagmeni with a system of well-engineered caverns lit by mirrored shafts, allowing visitors to read without disturbing the texts. The library houses Nephite, Jaredite, and still older writings, drawing pilgrims and traders from every direction.

Mentina grew into a center of commerce, learning, and worship, prompting the council to commission an expansion of the temple. Manti describes its seven buildings ascending a hill from the Place of Adam to the Place of Eve, built with uncut stone altars and exquisite timberwork. He notes the annual exchange of records with the Land Southward, carried by the Three Nephites, who also tutor the people and foster widespread prophecy and communion with heaven.
