Manti instructs Nem concerning two temple ordinances: the Endowment of Power and the Second Anointing. The Endowment, he explains, is not merely a set of tokens for passing the veil after death, but the spiritual transformation worked within the recipient that enables a Telestial being to access the Terrestrial realm while still in mortal flesh — to converse with angels, kindred dead, and Christ Himself, as Adam and Eve did. He warns that in the latter days most will be taught that such communion must await resurrection, and the elect will shun revelation because of this false doctrine.

He interprets the veil ceremony: the assistant prompting the patron represents Christ Himself. The Second Anointing, performed by a husband and wife already sealed by the Holy Spirit of Promise, brings them face to face with the Lord. Manti foretells this ordinance will be lost by the seer's day, then exhorts Nem to rejoice over his Zion-building descendants.
