THE BOOK OF SANEMPET

Chapter 1
Premium narration
1
Sanempet, eldest son of Hagmeni, opens his record by mourning his father, who died one season before the promised sign of Christ's birth. Ordained High Priest, Sanempet recounts Hagmeni's life: his voyage from the Land Southward in Hagoth's ships, his deliverance in the Canyons of Akish, his work with the Lamanite Twins, the founding of Mentina, and his translation of Jaredite records. Hagmeni had been weakened by silence from his friend Nephi in Zarahemla.
2
One month after Hagmeni's death, the aged Nephi arrived with a small band of refugees and taught the Nem concerning the condescension of God, the virgin birth, the Lord's mortal life, atoning death, and resurrection. The signs came as promised: a day, night, and day of light, and a new star. Nephi later received a vision of the destruction and Christ's visitation in the south.
3
He spent his remaining years ordering records, persuading the Nem to adopt Jaredite phonetic writing, and died in the fourth year after the sign.
