THE BOOK OF SHIMLEI
Chapter 5
Premium narration
1
Shimlei turns to the instruction of children, urging that the things of God be planted in them while they are young and pliable. He draws a careful comparison to the training of animals — not to liken children to beasts, but to show that early habits endure. A child who learns to love Christ's words, discern the Spirit, and seek the Savior's face will not easily forsake these in age.

He insists this duty belongs to parents, not to ministers or congregations, and warns that parents will answer for it in the accounting of their stewardship. He condemns the rising doctrine that men are masters rather than stewards of their households, prophesying that when men proclaim themselves lord and king at home, strife will fill the land. Shimlei commends his wife Almana's prophetic example, urges teaching by industry, gratitude, charity, and confirmation of the Spirit, and forbids compulsion in teaching or in any stewardship.
