THE FIRST BOOK OF MORONI

Chapter 1
Premium narration
1
Moroni opens by explaining that he is finishing the record his father Mormon began, though he expects to write only briefly. He recounts that after the catastrophic battle at Cumorah, the surviving Nephites fleeing south were hunted down and exterminated, his father among them. Alone, without kin, friends, or ore for more plates, Moroni does not know how long he will be permitted to live.
2
Four hundred years have passed since Christ's coming, and the land is now consumed by Lamanite warfare. The three disciples have been withdrawn from the people because of wickedness, though Moroni and Mormon saw them. He then addresses future readers, warning against condemning the record's imperfections and pronouncing blessing on whoever brings it forth by God's power.
3
Shown the latter days in vision, Moroni rebukes proud, money-loving churches that sell forgiveness, neglect the poor, and shed innocent blood, declaring that vengeance hangs over them.
