THE FIRST BOOK OF PA-NAT
Chapter 2
Premium narration
1
Sanhagot, eldest son of Sanempet, leads his siblings Shigath, Shimnet, and Himneth southward from Mentina, skirting the deserts at the southern edge of the Land Northward and turning east through forested country to reach a gulf called the East Sea. At the city Tamahualip, friendly fisher folk transport them by ship along the coast, where they gather intelligence about Gadianton dominance in the cities east of Sidon. Upon landing, Sanhagot divides the missionaries and sends each to a different city, blessing them by the name of Jesus.
2
Approaching the City of Laman, Sanhagot is detained because his modest Nephite attire contrasts with the Lamanite-style painted nakedness adopted there. The narrative explains that covering the body preserves the covenant of chastity received in the temple. Brought before the corrupt Chief Judge Wayus, Sanhagot exposes his oppression of debtors and is imprisoned without food.
3
The Lord sustains him on the Way and curses the city with vanishing wealth and insect swarms. When the people demand answers, Wayus craftily releases Sanhagot, hoping the populace will kill him. Righteous residents shelter him by the riverside.
