THE FIRST BOOK OF SHI-TUGO

Chapter 11
Premium narration
1
Shi-Tugo describes how the Ammonites keep the Sabbath, contrasting their practice with that of the Nephites. Rather than gathering in synagogues, families assemble in their homes, sometimes alone and sometimes joined with other households. The day begins with washing and dressing in the sacred clothing bestowed by the Peli, or in finest garments for those too young to have received it.
2
A song of thanksgiving opens the gathering, after which the host father speaks of the things of God, drawing on revelation, prophecy, or the sacred records. His wife follows, and then any family member moved by the Spirit, with the listeners clapping their assent. The father concludes by burning sacred herbs in a bowl, lifting the incense toward the sacred directions, and leading a thunderous shout of praise.
3
The chapter notes that Nephites, accustomed to quiet, formal reverence, find this exuberance unsettling, though the Ammonites depart filled with joy.
