THE SECOND BOOK OF MORONI
Chapter 4
Premium narration
1
Moroni preserves the established pattern by which elders and priests administered the emblem of Christ's body to the church, noting that the practice followed Christ's own commandments and was therefore reliable as a true ordinance. He describes how the officiating minister, together with the gathered congregation, knelt before partaking, addressing the Eternal Father in the name of His Son. The recorded prayer asks the Father to bless and sanctify the bread for the souls of those who partake, so that the act becomes a remembrance of the body of His Son.
2
Those who eat enter a covenant relationship: they testify before the Father of their willingness to take upon themselves the name of Christ, to keep Him continually in remembrance, and to obey the commandments He has given. The promised blessing attached to this covenant is the abiding companionship of His Spirit.
