THE SECOND BOOK OF MORONI
Chapter 5
Premium narration
1
Moroni records the prescribed form for administering the sacramental wine, continuing his preservation of priesthood ordinances for the benefit of later generations. The officiator takes the cup and addresses the prayer to God, the Eternal Father, petitioning in the name of His Son, Jesus Christ. The plea is that the wine be blessed and sanctified for the souls of all who partake.
2
Those drinking do so in remembrance of the blood of the Son, shed on their behalf. By the act of drinking, the participants bear witness before the Father that they continually remember Christ, with the accompanying promise that His Spirit may remain with them. The chapter is brief and entirely liturgical, fixing the exact wording so that the ordinance is performed uniformly.
3
Taken together with the preceding prayer over the bread, it completes the sacramental rite within the restored covenant community.
