THE SECOND BOOK OF PA-NAT

Chapter 8
Premium narration
1
Pa-Nat recounts the personal arc of her later years. After being widowed young, her father Shimlei consoled her, and in time she married Shi-Pahorat, a kinsman descended from Cumeni, bearing a son, Heinmet, and a daughter, Pa-Hanat, before being widowed a second time. Her children sustained her through grief.
2
She served as clerk under four high priests of Mentina, then herself filled the office of high priest until age and infirmity overtook her. Refusing the council's wish to retain her with an assistant, she argued plainly that the feeble of body or mind ought not occupy seats of leadership, lest castes form within the people; the worthiest and fittest should govern. Pa-Nat closes by noting that four generations have passed since the Lord's visit to the Nem, yet the memory remains near.
3
Forty-seven years of peace, Zion established with all things common, and unity among Nephites, Lamanites, and scattered Nem stand as her legacy. She seals her record with a blessing.
