THE SECOND BOOK OF SAMUEL (THE LAMANITE)

Chapter 3
Premium narration
1
Helaman recounts the priestly lineage of his fathers: Corianton became king over the scattered people he found in the wilderness and taught them peace and unity, and when these joined the Nem, the office shifted from king to High Priest, passing through Alma to Helaman himself. Aged Alma sought a successor, but the Council, guided by the Spirit, refused any but him a refusal Alma initially resented. Helaman draws from this a lesson against judging others by one's own perception, since only God sees the end from the beginning.
2
Upon Helaman's return, the Council called him to the seat. Under his stewardship the people received prophets, repented of pride, and gave of their surplus. He labored with Oug of Mentina to copy records, depositing them in a dry rock chamber in a hill the Spirit named Cumorah, including the Brass Plates, Nephite writings, and the guarded works of the Brother of Jared, reserved for a future day of restoration.
3
He also defends Nephi's slaying of Laban as a hard, divinely commanded act.
