THE SECOND BOOK OF SAMUEL (THE LAMANITE)
Chapter 5
Premium narration
1
Samuel reflects on his long tenure as Chief of the High Priests over the Nem of Corianton. He labored to teach the gospel of peace, preserve ancestral customs, and honor the Sabbaths and festivals, while refusing to legislate rites so that every soul could seek God by personal revelation. Under this approach the gifts of the Spirit flourished and the people voluntarily eliminated poverty whenever a need was discovered, treating its elimination as a communal calling.
2
Samuel measures his ministry not by his own words but by whether his people governed themselves righteously. He recounts his marriage late in life to Hemina, sister of his friend Oug, a woman who mothered the whole community, and the birth of their son Corianton, who married Sabel, daughter of Oug, and grew so capable that the people seated him beside his father. Samuel teaches that a father's true measure is whether his children find favor with God.
