THE THIRD BOOK OF MORONI

Chapter 10
Premium narration
1
Moroni reflects on the inner stillness required to walk the Way, confessing that his own deeds in war have made this stillness difficult and noting that warriors rarely attain it. He warns that ordinary distractions likewise impede the soul, so one must deliberately choose a manner of living that quiets the clamor of the world. He explains that the forefathers were led away from the Land Southward because Nephite greed, reward-seeking, and punitive worship had become spiritually ruinous.

The Nem, by contrast, practice equality, mutual sacrifice, and refuse to judge one another's worthiness. He describes their purifications: a cleansing ordinance inherited from the Ammonites practiced chiefly by men, ceremonies using sacred smoke and pure plant essences, private family fasting, and the ordinances of the High Place that introduce participants to the Terrestrial World. The Law of Consecration relieves carnal burdens, freeing the Nem to contemplate creation, fellowship, and God.
