THE THIRD BOOK OF MORONI
Chapter 13
Premium narration
1
Moroni recounts the story of Noah's vineyard: after becoming drunk, Noah lay uncovered in his tent. Ham entered and looked upon his father's nakedness, while his brothers covered Noah honorably and inherited the prophetic teachings. Ham was cursed, losing access to the sealing endowment that joins man and woman after the pattern of the Heavenly Parents.
2
This carnal aberration passed to Pharaoh and Egyptus, so that Pharaoh, though a just ruler, could not hold priesthood. Moroni then distinguishes authority from true priesthood: priesthood is Christ's personal commission given by revelation through the Holy Ghost, not the mere laying on of hands. He contrasts faithful Noah with wicked King Noah of the Nephites, whose conferrals upon his priests were hollow, while Alma received genuine priesthood directly from the Lord.
3
Moroni teaches that women receive the commission of the Mother and should be ordained, sustained, and may also receive the Peacemaker's commission.
