THE THIRD BOOK OF MORONI
Chapter 3
Premium narration
1
Arriving at Mentina, Mormon finds the high priest's seat still vacant after Heinmet's absence. He takes up a stewardship as a metalsmith, drawing on his father's training, and the Nem nickname him Salamander after a forge tool. He marries Pa-Hinent, Pa-Nat's granddaughter and Heinmet's niece, and they raise four sons and two daughters.
2
Preferring the older Nem tradition of small settlements, Mormon leaves the overcrowded city with a few families and founds Elak Kowa, meaning to return again. The Mentina Council nevertheless calls him as high priest. Thirty-eight years after the war, Mormon gathers surviving Nephites into his settlement, fearing their bloodlust will contaminate the Nem.
3
He expounds Timothy's doctrine that faith acts upon matter and returns magnified to its source, governing both individuals and nations. He illustrates this Law of Restoration through the Lamanites, who, though initially more righteous, were corrupted by warfare into perpetual violence southward.
