Isaiah summons the nations to hear the day of Jehovah's vengeance — the year of recompences for the controversy of Zion. The host of heaven is dissolved, the heavens rolled as a scroll, and the sword of the Lord descends upon Idumea, the people of His curse. Bozrah is named: the sacrifice and slaughter language fuses Day-of-Atonement imagery with eschatological reckoning, blood of lambs and goats poured out on a doomed land turned to burning pitch. The desolation is permanent — owls, dragons, satyrs inherit the ruined palaces. The closing charge to seek out the book of the Lord and read frames the whole oracle: every word stands, the lot is cast, the inheritance divided by line. The controversy of Zion is settled by Jehovah Himself, not by the arm of men.
