The captive daughter of Zion is commanded to shake off the dust, loose the bands of her neck, and rise — sold for nought, redeemed without money. The Lord declares His people shall know His name in that day, and the feet of the messenger publishing peace upon the mountains announce that Zion's God reigneth. The watchmen see eye to eye when the Lord brings again Zion; the bearers of the vessels are commanded to depart, be clean, and the Lord goes before them and behind. The chapter closes opening the Servant Song: the Servant shall deal prudently, be exalted and very high, his visage marred more than any man, sprinkling many nations — the Davidic Servant whose hidden affliction precedes his raising up, the Joseph-pattern carried into the gathering of the remnant.
