Jehovah declares His own coming as refiner's fire and fullers' soap, sitting to purify the sons of Levi that they may offer in righteousness — the Levitical priesthood restored to its proper function within the Holy Order before the offerings of Judah and Jerusalem can again be pleasant. He comes as swift witness against sorcery, adultery, false swearing, oppression of the hireling, the widow, the fatherless, and the stranger. The robbery is named plainly: tithes and offerings withheld bring a curse on the whole nation; bringing the whole tithe opens the windows of heaven and rebukes the devourer. A book of remembrance is written for those who fear Him and speak often one to another — these become His jewels in the day of separation between righteous and wicked.
