Psalms 110
David's psalm opens two distinct persons: YHWH speaks to David's Lord, seating Him at the right hand until enemies are made a footstool. This is the Father-Son pattern named plainly — Jehovah enthroned, and above Him the Most High who does the enthroning (compare Revelation 1:6). The rod of strength sent out of Zion is the priesthood scepter wielded from the covenant land, ruling amid enemies. Verse 4 swears an unrepenting oath: a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek — the Holy Order of Alma 13 and D&C 107, eternal and lineage-anchored. The day of power gathers willing people in the beauties of holiness, while the same Lord executes judgment among the heathen.
1
The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.
2
The LORD shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thine enemies.
3
Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning: thou hast the dew of thy youth.
4
The LORD hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek.
