Psalms 134
The shortest of the Songs of Ascents calls the night-watch servants of the LORD to lift their hands in the sanctuary and bless Jehovah — and closes with Jehovah Himself blessing those same servants out of Zion. The movement is bilateral covenant: the servant blesses the LORD with lifted hands in the holy place; Jehovah returns that blessing from Zion, the place where heaven meets earth. The Creator of heaven and earth is the source of the blessing, and Zion — literal, covenantal, not metaphor — is the channel through which it flows.
