Psalms 150

The closing doxology of the Psalter calls every creature with breath to praise Jehovah — in His sanctuary and across the expanse of His power, for His acts and His immeasurable greatness. Every instrument named — trumpet, psaltery, harp, timbrel, stringed instruments, organs, cymbals — converges into a single witness: the totality of creation owes its voice to the One who made it. The final verse, 'let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD,' is not sentiment; it is a covenantal statement that Jehovah holds the breath of all life and is owed the return of that breath in praise.
