Psalms 93
Jehovah's kingship is declared absolute — clothed with majesty and girded with strength, His throne established before the world was framed. The rising floods and their roaring waves are set against Him as a measure of His superiority: He is mightier than all of them. The psalm closes on the covenant ground: His testimonies are certain, and holiness is the permanent character of His house. Strength, eternity, covenant faithfulness, and holiness are here bound together as the defining attributes of Jehovah who reigns — not a distant sovereign but the one whose house on earth is to be marked by that same holiness.
1
The LORD reigneth, he is clothed with majesty; the LORD is clothed with strength, wherewith he hath girded himself: the world also is stablished, that it cannot be moved.
2
Thy throne is established of old: thou art from everlasting.
3
The floods have lifted up, O LORD, the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their waves.
4
The LORD on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty waves of the sea.
5
Thy testimonies are very sure: holiness becometh thine house, O LORD, for ever.
