SEER

The Seer

Chapter 1

As I was in deep thought reading the writings of Isaiah and Nephi, my father, and his brother Jacob, unto whom was given much understanding of things as they were and as they are to come to pass among my people, or the house of Lehi, unto whom Joseph the son of Jacob, is particularly made mention, the spirit of the Lord came into my mind and instructed me to write a few more things to bring clarity and plainness to that which they had written unto the seed; yea, for the spirit of the Lord speaketh and saith that the Lord shall set his hand again the second time to recover his people, the remnant of his people.

And in this thing have all the prophets written from since the beginning, looking forward to that day spoken of, when all things shall be gathered into one and when the seed of their body should be remembered again, for herein is the truth manifested, and wherein all the fathers did their work in the earth and sealed all things unto the Lord that the promises might be fulfilled, that this might be done according to the will and pleasure of the Lord, for he knoweth all things.

Did not our father Nephi say unto us, we his children, that the things he spoke of were manifested unto the prophets of old by the voice of the spirit; for by the spirit are all things made known unto the prophets, which should come upon us, their children? Now these things I speak of, in the records or the reading written pertain to things both temporal and spiritual, but to God are all things coming from him are spiritual.

Wherefore, I speak plainly that none can misinterpret that which hath been written, but not all things written are before our eyes; yea, the Lord hast granted unto us sufficient knowledge that if we exercise sufficient faith and diligence, this spirit of which I have spoken of, shall reveal many more truths as it has been revealed in the beginning to our fathers. Yea, to some it was given to know the whole truth as it is in the eyes of the Lord, and they have written these things, but have been constrained to hold back much until the children exercise sufficient faith and obedience to that which they have caused to be written.

Wherefore, I speak and say unto all those who are left in these days-and he surely did show unto the prophets of old all things concerning them; and also he did show unto many concerning us, even in this day; thus it is plain to understand that we know concerning them for they are written, to our father Nephi it was written on the Plates of Brass. For I testify that he did liken all scripture written by them of old unto us that it might be for our profit and learning; that even in these days, we might know that we are not cast off forever, but means temporal and spiritual hath been prepared by him that knoweth all things to bring again his people. And which people I speak of, is us, we who are descendant of Israel, the branch broken off.

For this reason, the spirit speaketh and saith: Hear ye the words of the prophet, ye who are a remnant of the house of Israel, a branch broken off; hear ye the words of the prophet, which were written unto the house of Israel, and liken the scriptures unto yourselves, that ye may have hope as well as for all your brethren from whence ye are broken off for a wise purpose known of the fathers; for after this manner has the prophets written; yea, even thy father Nephi that ye might know these things in these days.

And the days shall come to pass, even among yourselves and your children, all ye children of Jacob assemble yourselves and hear; who among all your fathers hath declared these things? For the Lord thy God saith that he hath love thy fathers for their righteousness in him and their obedience to bring again that which was to be broken off and that which hath been broken off; for in this thing I speak of, they have declared the words of Christ and we know that the words of Christ shall all be fulfilled, or that the words declared by our fathers in the name of Christ in these days, the Lord shall do his pleasure on the gentiles; yea, the gentiles who are upon this land of promise and they who hath been given much concerning the fulness of truth of which I write and speak.

Nevertheless, the Lord has made mention these things by way of the prophets for he saith: behold, I have declared the former things from the beginning; and they went forth out of my mouth, and I showed them. I did show them suddenly. And I did it because I knew that thou art obstinate, and thy neck is an iron sinew, and thy brow brass; and I have even from the beginning declared to thee; before it came to pass I showed them thee. Thou hast seen and heard all this; and will ye not declare them?

Wherefore, the spirit commands that I say to you all, ye children of Lehi and children of Jacob, our fathers, I shall declare these things of which the Lord Jesus Christ hast spoken of that ye may know them. It is because of the transgressions of thy fathers and thy rebellion against that which is true and righteous, thou heardest not; yea, thou knewest not; yea, from that time to the present, thine ear was not opened; for the Lord saith that thou wouldst deal very treacherously, and wast called a transgressor from the womb. For the Lord of thy fathers saith: come ye near unto me; I have not spoken in secret and from the beginning the Lord hath sent his prophets who have spoken his words; O that thou hadst hearkened to his commandment then thou wouldst had peace and thy seed would have been like the sand being the offspring of Abraham.

I would that ye should know and understand that not all the fathers rebelled against the Holy One of Israel; he loveth those who will have him to be their God. For he loved our fathers, and he covenanted with them; yea, even Adam, Seth, Enoch, Methuselah, Noah, Shem, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Lehi, Nephi and Joseph; and God hath remembered the covenants which he hath made from generation to generation; wherefore, I testify to you all that he did bring them out of the land of Egypt and out of the land of Jerusalem to this land of promise, that the covenants he hath made with them in former times, might be fulfilled in us in these days.

And again the Lord God of Jacob saith: hearken, O ye house of Israel, all ye that are broken off and driven out because of thy wickedness and have been scattered abroad, ye who are my people; yea, even to the isles of the sea. For the Lord hath said unto thy fathers of old, in this thing that I have scattered thee among all nations and that ye shall be hated of all men; and after our seed is scattered the Lord God will proceed to do a marvelous work and a wonder which shall be of great worth unto our seed, and this seed I speak of is the seed of Lehi, and more particularly, the seed of Nephi-Joseph; herein the Lord saith: I will save thy children.

The Lord God of Jacob saith unto all his people: in the day of salvation I will help thee, and give thee my holy servant for a covenant of the people to establish the earth, to cause to inherit the desolate heritages wherein Zion shall be established. Isaiah has prophesied of these things saying: and since they have been led away, these things have been prophesied concerning them, and also concerning all those who shall hereafter be scattered and be confounded, because of the Holy One of Israel; for against him will they harden their hearts; wherefore, they shall be scattered among all nations and shall be hated of all men. And Nephi plainly taught his children and wrote unto us giving us greater understanding of what Isaiah meaneth; he said: and it meaneth that the time cometh that after all the house of Israel have been scattered and confounded, that the Lord God will raise up a mighty nation among the Gentiles; yea, even upon the face of this land; and by them shall our seed be scattered.

Thus, I speak and say by the power of the Holy Ghost which is in me: who can despise the words of the prophets and say that they shall not be fulfilled even in these days? Who can say that the Lord God of Israel shall not speak directly to his people that have been scattered to recovery them from whence they have been led? Who can say that the Father shall not keep his promises made by covenant with our fathers to be fulfilled in these days? O' ye sons of Jacob that disbelieve because ye have not read what hath been written and ye know not the words of Jesus Christ written for thy good; awake! Awake and be men of sound understanding and learning, that ye may hearken unto the words of Christ and repent, and return unto him for his arms are stretched out still. Open your hearts, and let the light of Christ fill thy souls! Plant the seed of truth to displace that state of disbelief and destroy the distractions of this world, for ye know not that Satan hast thee bound with his chains, that the Christly desire in thee is destroyed and ye seek after that which moth shall eat and that which rust shall destroy, and in the end ye shall have nothing. Wherefore, as a parent and a brother, I admonish thee to consider the truthfulness of what I write and seek to learn from the Book of Mormon words left by thy dying fathers.

Then the Lord shall do a marvelous work among the Gentiles, which shall be of great worth unto our seed; wherefore, it is likened unto their being nourished by the Gentiles and being carried in their arms and upon their shoulders. In this thing it is written that thereafter, the gentiles shall receive the fulness of the gospel of Christ, the same gospel that was preached among our fathers here upon the land of promise and in the land of the old Jerusalem, which gospel is similar to what is contained on the Plates of Brass, and this gospel shall go unto the remnant of our seed from the Gentiles. At that day, shall the remnant of the seed of Lehi come to know and understand that they are of the house of Israel and that they are a covenant people of the Lord; and then shall they know and come to a knowledge of their forefathers and the work they performed on their behalf, hid by the Lord, to come unto them again; and by this means, they shall come to a knowledge of the gospel of their Redeemer which was ministered unto their fathers here in the land of promise; wherefore, they shall come to a knowledge of their Redeemer and the very points of his doctrine that they may know how to come unto him and be saved. In this thing, I have written the points of doctrine in great plainness that by choice and desire, the remnant may graft themselves into the mother root, being a natural branch of the olive-tree, into the true olive-tree which is Christ the Lord.

In plainness of words, it meaneth that after the Nephites have been destroyed by the Lamanites, the Lord God shall preserve a remnant in the remnant who are lineal descendants of Nephi and his brothers, and they shall write a record unto us in this day; and the record shall bear record of God the Father and his Son Jesus Christ, and that which we must do to return with one accord, with real intent, to our fathers for they have left means whereby we may know who we are, what we must do, and what will come to pass for it hath been foretold by them of old. Then we shall know that this cannot come to pass until our fathers have been scattered by the Gentiles; and it meaneth also that is shall come by way of the Gentiles that we shall receive a fulness of the gospel pointing us to the covenant which should be fulfilled in the latter days unto the last days.

Then if you know these things, then you must know that all kindreds of the earth cannot be blessed unless he shall make bare his arm in the eyes of all nations; and the Lord God shall make bare his arm in the eyes of all nations in bringing about his covenants he hath made with our fathers by bringing again his gospel unto those who are of the house of Israel. Then you must understand and know that for this intent have the fathers written leaving us a record of their dealings with the Lord God on our behalf, looking forward to this day I speak of, that we their children shall do again a great and marvelous work and a wonder. And if we do these things, then the Lord God shall bring us out of captivity and into the light, and we shall be gathered again together to the land of our inheritance; which land is the land of the first inheritance for the sons of Lehi, and for Jew, it is the land of Jerusalem, and the ten tribes shall be gathered in with the house of Joseph. Glorious shall be that day for we shall be brought out of obscurity and out of darkness and we shall know that the Lord Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer, the Mighty One of Israel.

But before this day shall come, the time will come that the fulness of the wrath of God shall be pour out upon all the inhabitants of the earth; yea, even among the gentile nations of the earth even here upon the land of promise. And Lord God of Jacob hath said that all they who fight against Zion and her children shall be destroyed, and these are they who have perverted the ways of the Lord for he will not suffer that the wicked shall destroy the righteous. Yea, even the children of Lehi shall not be smitten or scattered any more for the time cometh that the Lord God shall preserve them, even as Joseph our father did with the whole of the house of Jacob; then we know that the fulness of his wrath shall come and the righteous shall he preserve even unto the destruction of all those who do evil and unrighteousness, even by fire.

But as John said: God shall smite the earth and its inhabitants with all kinds of pestilence, earthquakes, droughts, lightening, tornados, and famines; but those who are righteous and they who know the true points of the doctrine of Christ shall wait on the Lord and need not fear. For all the prophets have testified from since the beginning, that the righteous shall be saved, even if it so be by fire, which fire cometh from the Lord and burneth all unrighteousness to stubble.

Wherefore, O ye who are of the wild grapes or ye who have become like unto the wild grapes, hear the words spoken by the prophets for ye need fear, or if you repent it shall be well with you and great shall be your blessings, and which blessings cometh unto you because of the natural fruit, for herein, is found the blessings of heaven and earth; it is in this thing for which all the fathers have done their work in the earth and having sealed their work in heaven by promise and covenant, we their children, by lineage and by works, are blessed of the Father even in this day.

Then ye Gentiles shall say: wherein have we offended God and his children, did we not do the work of Abraham? For as our father hath testified to them of old, there is save it be two churches only in the earth; on the left hand is the church of the devil and on the right hand is the church of the Son of God. For the time speedily cometh that all churches which are built up by man to get power over the flesh which is the power of the devil and those churches which are built up to be popular in the eyes of the world, and those which seek the lust of the flesh and the things of the world, and to do all manner of wickedness and iniquity; yea, in plainness that ye do not misunderstand or thinketh to diminish the meaning of what I speak, all those who belong to the kingdom of the devil are they who need fear and tremble for the day of your destruction soon cometh upon you; and in fine, these are they who do not teach the true points of doctrine of Christ, but have perverted even the promises and covenants made to the house of Israel, thinking to change that which they cannot.

And of the gentiles here upon the land of promise, I speak of the seed of Lehi, for they are of the house of Israel and are not forgotten for their fathers were beloved of Christ and they did mighty works on behalf of their children in these days. Yea, in great plainness, I say unto you Gentiles: these things of which it is written, I bear record is not found in your churches nor do ye teach them unto the remnant to whom ye have care, but you preach unto them your precepts and understanding, which is contrary to what hath been written unto them by their fathers; for if you were the true church of Christ then you would teach all these things and seek to establish them again as hath been promised; for ye know that Zion cannot be established without them, or in fine, ye shall assist them in the works to come. And I say unto ye children of Lehi, how can the gentiles assist you, if you understand not the promises and covenants, and what is contained in the Book of Mormon; or that you ask not the Father, in the name of the Son, what you must do?

And ye natural fruit, ye say: wherein do ye say that we have become like unto the wild fruit? Ye have taken unto yourselves their works and what they have done in this life, and ye say that the work is done, and there needs be nothing else that needs be done; herein, ye are led by the precepts of men and their teaching that has destroyed even the remnant of tradition that might have pointed the way back to Christ. Ye are like unto the children of Israel that as they are led into the wilderness of affliction that they might remember and come unto God, they chose to worship idols made of hands for they could see and feel it; and this took no faith to see and believe, but it was false and angered the Lord of Host, God of Israel. O that ye would awake from a deep sleep, even from the sleep of hell and shake off the awful chains by which ye are bound, which chain cometh because of iniquity and sin, and the fruit of them that do this thing is death.

Behold, did ye not receive a great blessing at the hand of the Gentiles in that ye received a record of the fathers that contain a fulness of the gospel, which was preached unto them? Did these records written not contain all the blessings and promises made to the fathers on our behalf-in these days-the work that must be performed by us-their children-that they might be made alive, but that we the children must bring again the blessings of Abraham to all the children of men? Then-having received a knowledge of the creation of the earth, and all men, knowing and understanding the marvelous works of the Lord from the creation of the world; knowing that our fathers were given power of the Father that they could do marvelous works in the earth-sealed unto heaven by faith that which was had from the beginning; and they having been given all the commandments- given them from the beginning to point the way back to God, and they having been brought to this land of promise by his infinite goodness that we might be-they having left us a means whereby we might know all these things that we might return again unto our Lord and Savior within the time appointed; if the day comes that we reject these things, the judgment of a just God be upon us as it was in the days Moses, who led the children of Israel out of Egypt, shall rest upon them.

Yea, even in that day, which is written in the records of the fathers, that God of Israel did save a remnant for he will fulfill the promises made unto the fathers, for their work shall not be in vain or come to nought; and ye cannot dispute that this record which beareth record of the things I have written is before you and you received it by way of the Gentiles. Why then do you wrest the scriptures given of thy fathers that ye may not be lost forever? Awake, my people, ye sons of Israel; put on the armor of righteousness that have been prepared by them who knew all these things. Shake off the chains by which ye are bound that renders all who are in deep sleep utter destruction from whence they shall not return, and come out of obscurity-out of that hidden darkness caused by the precepts of men-and arise from the dust. I say unto you all, rebell no more against that which is true and keep the commandments of God as they are written, and pray unto the Father, that you may be filled with this light that the sore cursing placed upon your fathers might be lifted off you and your children that you make seek the glory of God with a contrite heart and spirit.

The scriptures saith in clarity and plainness that no man can dispute the love of God towards all men, especially those who will keep his commandments and obey every word that proceeded from the mouth of God unto salvation; that God hath appointed or affixed time according to his will and pleasure, and no man knoweth these times affixed, unless they are revealed unto him, and immediately, God shuts up that revelation; which leaveth that natural man as he hast been from the beginning, for he will trample under foot the things of God. For surely he shall take it unto himself and glory in that truth and say I have done this thing and I know it; to be wise is good if one takes counsel from God and one seeks to do the will of the Father in all things; in this thing, man has failed for he seeks to go beyond that which is affixed according to the purpose of him that knoweth all things; in other words, man has gone amiss and he has gone beyond the mark; which thing is the precepts of man for it cometh of the devil to blind and deceive man.

But we know for the scriptures instruct us that the way is prepared from the fall of Adam, and that salvation is free; and men are instructed sufficiently to know good from evil, for all men are given the light of Christ which beareth record of what is good. It is known that man is cut off by the law; yea, by the temporal law they were cut off and by the spiritual law they perish from that which is good, and they would become miserable forever. Wherefore, as it is said, God hath prepared a redemption that has come upon all men, in and through the Holy Messiah, who is full of grace and truth, for he hast offered himself a sacrificed for sin unto all those who have a broken heart and contrite spirit, and unto none else can the ends of the law be answered. The spirit beareth witness to me, and it has born witness to all righteous men of God, that no flesh can dwell in the presence of God, save it be through the merits, mercy, and grace of God, who has laid down his life according to the flesh and he took it up again by the power of the spirit, to bring to pass the resurrection of the dead, he being the first to rise from the dead.

In this act of pure love, unto all men and to fulfill the will of the Father, our Lord and Savior makes intercession for all the children of men that if they should repent and believe in him they should be saved; and this intercession I speak of shall occur in the flesh according to the resurrection, that all men shall be judged of him according to the truth and holiness which is in him. Herein is the truth eternal, because the Redeemer hath met the ends of the law which he hath given in the beginning, he shall affix a punishment, which punishment that is affixed is in opposition to that of the happiness of man which is also affixed, to answer the ends of the atonement.

Thus I say, it will be well with the Gentiles, if they would repent and come unto Christ with a broken heart and a contrite spirit to do that which is affixed to meet the demands of restoration of the children of Israel, meaning the children of Lehi, as hath been promised; for did I not say, as well as my fathers of old, that if the Gentiles would repent and do the will of the Father, it will be a blessing unto them and they shall be numbered with the seed of Nephi. Yea, as I speak unto the children of Lehi, who have received the fulness of the gospel and the instructions given of the fathers, it will be well with them, for Lehi has accordingly blessed his sons and their children, and children's children, even unto the latter days, to search and come to know the things I have written that they may come out of obscurity and out of darkness into the light wherein the promises are made. Wherefore, by the power of the spirit of truth, I say unto ye all: read the blessings given by father Lehi and come to know and understand the fulfillment thereof; ask to understand in mighty prayer to the Father in the name of Jesus Christ. And this responsibility I speak of, is affixed with all the acts of God the Father, to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man; wherefore, ye are commanded to learn of these things and come to understanding that ye may act for yourselves to choose everlasting life, which life is with God, or everlasting death, death with the devil.

Behold the things I have brought to light that ye may come into the light and bask in the light which cometh of the Father, as he has promised unto his chosen people, to do a work in the earth for all his people from the beginning to the end, for this work is his work and his glory, and no man cometh into the light except he shall accept the Son by whom all the work of the Father hath been done. Wherefore, study and read the scriptures as they are before you, that ye may be filled with this knowledge and that ye may obtain the faith requisite from the Father, believing in these things as they are written, then the spirit of truth shall distill upon you, and fill your whole soul unto understanding the greater mysteries of God, given unto those who diligently seek him.

The Holy Ghost, which is in me, telleth me to testify unto you that ye must not rebell anymore against your fathers, who hath done this great work unto thee, that ye might know wherewith to turn and to seek that light I have spoken of. Learn of what our fathers did and do not openly rebel against the Holy One of Israel, read the things that hath been written that ye may be better than they.

The spirit of truth maketh manifest unto me that many of you will not believe what I have written for your understanding-admonishing you to learn of these things-whilst you are still in the flesh that ye die not doubting and rebelling against your God. If you do not believe what I have written, then do you believe that Moses led the children of Israel out the land of Egypt into the land of promise wherein all our fathers were buried? Do you believe that Lehi and his sons came to this land of promise, being warned of the Lord, but as Nephi hast testified, that his seed were affixed to be in the land of promise therein the Father gave this land for their inheritance forever? Because our fathers rebelled and rejected the Holy One of Israel, did the gentiles come upon this land as hath been prophesied, and our fathers-were they not smitten and scattered-by the hand of the Gentiles? Did the records of our fathers not fall into our hands by way of the Gentiles unto bring many to the knowledge of Christ? Did many of our brethren who receive the truth become like unto the wild grapes, thereby following the precepts of men, instead of God who gave them the truth; yea, did ye not wrest the scriptures that caused you to sit in darkness and obscurity? Did not Christ show himself unto our fathers, and that he testified of these things, which are written in the records that have fallen into your hands by way of the Gentiles? Did the Gentile people became a great people, free on the land of promise? If ye believe these things, then why do ye wrest the truth that the remnant shall not be gathered again; if the Lord hath thus decreed and affixed this appointed time?

The Lord Jesus Christ said unto our fathers when he appeared and ministered unto them, that the Gentiles should reject what I have written, for we know that he lieth not; then if ye believe this, then why do ye not believe what he hath decreed and affixed for his children in their recovery, as hath been promised the fathers in the latter days, that works shall be performed in the last days? It mattereth not that ye know me not or that I write these things of myself; yea, I testify to you who are a remnant of the branch broken off to be recovered again-and all ye gentiles who repent and do what the Lord hast commanded-and all ye who are called the house of Israel: what I have written is truth for the spirit of truth beareth record, but that I am commanded to write these things that I might convince you of the truth that has already gone forth among you. This I do that ye may be saved; that by learning and knowing of the truth ye may wait upon the Lord doing much good for them that know not these things; that ye are commanded by the Lord, by way of the fathers, to know these things and come to understanding the promises made that ye may come unto Christ through repentance; that ye may come to know that the Lord shall recover his people a second time, and that time, is about to take place so ye must choose to become a part of this great work or to be cast off forever; and that ye must read and come to a knowledge of these things for yourself for the Lord hath prepared means whereby ye may come to understanding, and then pray unto the Father that what ye have learned and have come to understand will fill the whole earth, that your prayers and works may return ye unto your fathers and that the works of the fathers may return again unto you.

In this thing and that which I have written, I know to be true; if ye believe not, it shall stand as a testimony against you at the last day, but if ye believe then it shall be well with you; even so Amen.
