Testament of Asher 5
Asher sets out a binary cosmology: every visible thing has its hidden opposite, and the paired structure — death following life, darkness following light — is not chaos but order under God. The phrase 'all things are under God' names Jehovah as the sovereign frame within which opposites resolve. Asher then names 'the Most High' separately, invoking El Elyon above Jehovah, which opens the Father-of-the-Father pattern: son beneath Father, creation beneath son. Asher's witness closes personally — he walked in singleness of face, not divided between two masters, searching the commandments of El Elyon with his whole strength.

Ye see therefore, my children, how that there are two in all things, one against the other, and the one is hidden by the other. Death succeedeth to life, dishonour to glory, night to day, and darkness to light; and all things are under the day, and just things under life: wherefore also everlasting life awaiteth death. Nor may it be said that truth is a lie, nor right wrong; for all truth is under the light, even as all things are under God. All these things I proved in my life, and I wandered not from the truth of the Lord, and I searched out the commandments of the Most High, walking with singleness of face according to all my strength unto that which is good.
