Testament of Asher 8
Asher closes his final charge to his sons and dies peacefully, directing that he be buried in Hebron with his fathers. The instruction is brief and covenantal: inheritance in death mirrors inheritance in life, and burial with the patriarchs in Hebron — the land Abraham purchased as a covenant foothold — is a deliberate act of faith that the promises made to the fathers will yet be fulfilled in the land of promise. Asher's sons honor the charge, carrying his body to the burial place of the covenant lineage.
1
And when he had said these things unto them, he charged them, saying: Bury me in Hebron. And he fell into a peaceful sleep, and died; and after this his sons did as he had charged them, and they carried him up and buried him with his fathers.
