Testament of Levi 9
Isaac receives Levi at Hebron and gives him a sustained priestly formation: instruction in the law of sacrifice, burnt offerings, first-fruits, freewill and thank offerings, and the ritual washings required before and after approaching the holy place. Jacob's confirming vision at Bethel — that Levi should serve as priest unto Jehovah — anchors the calling in prophetic witness, while Isaac's daily instruction models the transmission pattern of the Holy Order: a man already standing in that authority conferring its laws by direct teaching, hand-delivering what the angel had first shown Levi in vision. The warning against the spirit of fornication is priestly law, not incidental counsel — defilement in the seed pollutes the holy things, threatening the lineage-covenant downstream.
