Chapter 1
The Saviour gathers Judas, Matthew, and Mary, and instructs them concerning the labour of the saints, the place of life, and the prayer of the soul.
1The Saviour said unto His disciples: The hour is come, my brethren, that we should leave behind us our labour, and stand within the rest. For he that standeth within the rest shall rest forever.
2And I say unto you: Stand ye always above all need. For ye know that all needful labour I myself have laboured before you, and have set you the example, that ye may know it.
3Hearken unto me; for I shall tell you the things which the Father hath given me to give unto you. Wherefore have we come unto these mortal places? That we may bear witness unto the truth — that we may proclaim the Father unto them which sit in darkness.
4And Judas said: Lord, when shall be that day of which Thou speakest — the day of rest? When the labour shall cease, and the saints shall be gathered into the bridal chamber?
5And the Saviour answered: When the works of womanhood are destroyed, and when nature is set aside — then shall be the day of rest. For so long as the body is held by passion, the rest is far off.
6And Mary said: Lord, what is this passion? And how is it set aside? Tell us, that we may know.
7And the Saviour said: The passion is the love of the body, and the love of the world. It is set aside by the knowledge of the Father, and by the love of the Spirit, and by the prayer that ascendeth out of the heart.
8And Matthew said: Lord, teach us to pray.
9And the Saviour answered: When ye pray, say: Father, Thou hast brought us forth out of the world. We have known Thee. Lead us into the place of light. Set us in the place of rest. Free us from the bondage of the powers. Cleanse us by the living water. Seal us by the Holy Spirit. Bring us up unto Thy Son. Amen.
10And Mary said: Lord, all things — whence have they come? Whither do they go? In what manner do they abide?
11And the Saviour answered: All things have come from the Father; all things shall return unto the Father; all things abide in the Father — for in Him is the All. He that hath known Him hath known himself. He that hath known himself hath known the All.
12And Judas said: Lord, how shall we cross over from this place unto that place? For the way is not known unto us.
13And the Saviour said: He that knoweth himself hath already crossed over. He that hath received the seal hath already entered. He that abideth in love hath already arrived.
14And Mary said: Lord, when shall I be with my Brother? For my soul desireth to behold Him face to face.
15And the Saviour said: When thou hast cast off thy garment of forgetfulness, and clothed thyself with the garment of light, then shalt thou come into the bridal chamber, and shalt behold thy Bridegroom forever.
16And Matthew said: Lord, what is this bridal chamber?
17And the Saviour said: It is the place where the soul is joined unto her angel. It is the place where the inner is joined unto the outer. It is the place where the male is joined unto the female, that they may be one.
18It is the holy of holies. It is the place which the prophets foresaw. It is the place which the patriarchs sought. It is the place where the Father dwelleth in the silence of His glory.
19And Judas said: Lord, when we have entered, shall we know one another?
20And the Saviour said: Even as ye know one another now, so shall ye know one another there — but not after the flesh; rather, after the Spirit. There ye shall know as ye are known.
21And Mary said: Lord, when the soul cometh up out of the body, what is the manner of her ascent? Through what places must she pass?
22And the Saviour said: She passeth through the seven heavens of the powers. At each gate the powers shall question her: Whence comest thou? Whither goest thou? What is the password? But the soul that hath received the seal shall answer: I come from the Father; I go unto the Father; my password is the name which He hath given me.
23And the powers shall let her pass; and she shall ascend; and she shall come unto the place of light. And the angels shall meet her; and they shall lead her unto the bridal chamber. And the Bridegroom shall receive her, and shall set her at His side.
24And Mary said: Blessed art Thou, Lord, who hast revealed unto us these things. For we knew them not, until Thou didst speak.
25And the Saviour said: Blessed are ye that have received my words. For ye shall not be harmed by the powers; ye shall not be detained at the gates; ye shall not be put back into the cycle of birth and death. Ye shall come unto the rest, and ye shall stand with me.
Chapter 2
The Saviour shows the disciples the visions — the abyss, the Light, the chosen vessel — and discourses on the seed of light within every disciple.
1And the Saviour took Judas, and Mary, and Matthew, that He might show them the consummation of heaven and earth.
2And He laid His hand upon them; and the heavens were opened. And they beheld a great abyss, and a great Light above the abyss, and a great Spirit moving upon the face of the deep.
3And the Saviour said: This is the abyss; this is the Light; this is the Spirit. Out of these three was the world made. By these three shall the world be unmade.
4And Judas was troubled. And he said: Lord, the abyss is exceeding deep. The waters thereof are dark. Who shall stand upon the brink of it, and not be afraid?
5And the Saviour said: He that hath the Spirit shall not fear the abyss. The Spirit shall be his light upon the dark waters. The Spirit shall be his bridge across the deep.
6And Mary said: Lord, the Light is exceeding great. Who shall behold it, and not be blinded?
7And the Saviour said: He that hath received the seal of the Light shall not be blinded by it. The Light shall be his sight; the Light shall be his joy. He shall behold and not be consumed.
8And Matthew said: Lord, the Spirit is exceeding mighty. Who shall stand before it, and not be swept away?
9And the Saviour said: He that hath been born of the Spirit shall stand. The Spirit shall not sweep him away; rather, the Spirit shall lift him up. He shall stand within the Spirit, and shall be one with it.
10And the Saviour said: Behold, every disciple of mine carrieth within him a seed of light. The seed sleepeth, until the Word awakeneth it. When the Word awakeneth it, the seed putteth forth roots, and a tree groweth, and it beareth fruit unto life.
11Judas said: Lord, in what manner is the seed awakened?
12And the Saviour said: By the hearing of the truth. By the receiving of the seal. By the prayer of the heart. By the doing of the Father's will.
13Mary said: Lord, in what manner is it watered?
14And the Saviour said: By the living water of the sacraments. By the chrism of the Spirit. By the bread of life. By the wine of the kingdom.
15Matthew said: Lord, in what manner doth it bear fruit?
16And the Saviour said: By love. By patience. By long-suffering. By the works of light. By the words of truth. By the silence of contemplation.
17And the Saviour said: He that beareth no fruit, his lamp is dark; the bridegroom shall not know him; the door shall not be opened. But he that beareth fruit shall enter, and shall sit at the marriage supper of the Lamb.
18And Judas said: Lord, what is the dark lamp?
19And the Saviour said: The lamp without oil is the soul without the Spirit. The lamp without flame is the soul without love. The lamp that is hidden under a bushel is the soul that hath received the truth and not declared it.
20Therefore, ye disciples — let your light so shine before men, that they may behold your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
21And Mary said: Lord, blessed art Thou; for Thou hast taught us all things.
22And the Saviour said: Blessed art thou, Mary, that thy heart is set above all the earth. For where thy heart is, there is thy treasure also. Where thy treasure is, there is thy home. And thy home is with me; and I am with thee — even unto the consummation of the age.
23And Mary bowed; and she gave thanks. And the disciples gave thanks with her.
24And the Saviour said: Pray ye for them which are not yet awakened. Bear ye witness unto them. Lay hands upon them. Baptize them. Teach them. They are my sheep also; bring them into the fold.
25For there shall be one fold and one Shepherd. There shall be one body and one Spirit. There shall be one Bride and one Bridegroom. And the wedding feast shall be in the day of the consummation.
Chapter 3
The Saviour speaks of the time of the end, the labour of the saints in the latter days, and the final blessing upon Mary, Judas, and Matthew.
1And Judas said: Lord, when shall be the end? When shall the labour be finished? When shall the children come into the rest?
2And the Saviour said: When ye see the abomination of desolation standing in the holy place — when ye see the powers of heaven shaken — when ye see the Son of Man coming in the clouds — then know that the end is at the door.
3And Mary said: Lord, in those days, what shall the saints do?
4And the Saviour said: Let them stand fast in the truth. Let them gather together. Let them break bread and pour wine in remembrance of me. Let them not turn aside unto the false christs. Let them keep the seal of the Light.
5And Matthew said: Lord, shall there be many saints in those days?
6And the Saviour said: There shall be a remnant — a small remnant. The harvest is great; but the labourers are few. Pray ye therefore that the Lord of the harvest send forth labourers into His harvest.
7And the Saviour said: Behold, in the latter days I shall send forth a servant — even one whom I have prepared from before the foundation of the world. He shall gather the remnant; he shall bear the seal; he shall open the records that have been hidden.
8And the books which were sealed in the days of the prophets shall be brought forth. And the children of the seed shall read them. And they shall remember the eternal God; and they shall be gathered home.
9And Mary said: Lord, blessed shall be that servant.
10And the Saviour said: Yea, blessed shall he be. And blessed shall be all they that hearken unto his voice. For they shall be of the unshakable race; they shall be of the kingless generation; they shall be sealed in the day of redemption.
11And Judas said: Lord, what manner of man shall he be?
12And the Saviour said: He shall be a man of sorrows, acquainted with grief. He shall be despised and rejected of men. He shall bear in his body the marks of the Lord. He shall be a witness — even as I have been a witness.
13And he shall not seek the praise of men. He shall not seek the wealth of the world. He shall seek only the will of the Father. And the Father shall vindicate him in the day of His coming.
14And Mary said: Lord, may we who hear Thy words be among the saints in that day.
15And the Saviour said: Ye shall be there; for ye are mine. I have written your names in the book of life. I have sealed you with the seal of the Spirit. I have appointed you a place at my right hand.
16And the Saviour stretched forth His hand, and laid it upon Mary, and upon Judas, and upon Matthew. And He said: Receive ye the Holy Ghost. Whosesoever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whosesoever sins ye retain, they are retained.
17And go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel unto every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be condemned.
18And lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. The Father is with you. The Spirit is with you. The four Luminaries are with you. The host of heaven encompasseth you about.
19Be of good cheer; for I have overcome the world. The works of darkness shall not prevail against you. The powers shall not lay hold of you. Death shall not detain you. Forgetfulness shall not lay claim to you.
20Stand ye fast in the liberty wherewith I have made you free. Walk ye in the way of light. Keep ye the seal. Pray ye without ceasing. Love ye one another. And the God of peace shall be with you.
21And the disciples bowed; and they worshipped Him; and they were filled with the Holy Ghost. And the Saviour blessed them; and He went up into the heaven. And the cloud received Him out of their sight.
22And they returned unto Jerusalem with great joy; and they were continually in the temple, blessing God. Amen.
