Chapter 1

The angel Gamaliel reveals to Melchizedek the mystery of the Savior, names the false teachers who will deny the Lord's flesh and resurrection, and proclaims the priesthood after the order of the Son of God.

1Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came forth from the realms above, that He might dwell among men and reveal the things which were hidden from the foundation of the world.

2He is the High Priest after the order which has no beginning of days nor end of life — the order which was before the world was, and which shall stand when the world has passed away.

3And the angel of God, whose name is Gamaliel, was sent unto Melchizedek the priest of God Most High, that he might unfold to him the mystery of the Beloved.

4And the angel said: Melchizedek, priest of God Most High, hear and understand, for the things which I shall speak unto thee are sealed unto the holy ones.

5Behold, the Savior shall come into the world. He shall be born of a virgin. He shall take upon Him true flesh, and not a likeness only, and He shall bear true suffering, and not a phantom.

6He shall hunger in truth and thirst in truth. He shall be wounded in truth, and shall die in truth, and in truth shall He rise from the dead on the third day.

7But there shall arise teachers in the latter days who shall say that He came not in the flesh, that He suffered not, that He died not, and that He rose not. These are deceivers, and the spirit of error is upon them.

8They shall say that the Savior came forth from a woman in seeming only, that His body was a phantasm, and that He bled not when He was pierced. Receive them not, neither give them welcome, for they have not the testimony of the Father.

9Therefore stand thou, O Melchizedek, in the truth, and let no man deceive thee. For the Son of God came down in true flesh, and in true flesh He shall ascend again to His Father.

10And thou, Melchizedek, shalt be a sign of Him in the days of thy ministry, for thou bearest in thy person the order of the Son of God, even the priesthood which is without father and without mother in this world.

11Thou shalt offer bread and wine before the Lord, in remembrance of the body and the blood which He shall give for the life of the world. And this offering shall be a token of His sacrifice from generation to generation.

12Thou shalt bless the seed of Abraham when he shall come up from the slaughter of the kings, and thou shalt receive of him a tithe of all, that the order of thy priesthood may pass through him unto the chosen seed.

13And the Father of Light hath sent Me unto thee, that thou mayest know the names of the powers which are above, and the names of the powers which are below, that thou mayest stand in the day of trial.

14For the powers of the lower world shall rise up against the saints, and there shall be a great war in the spirit. But the saints shall overcome by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.

15Now I declare unto thee the holy names which the Father hath revealed: the Father is called the Invisible Spirit, and He is the Source of every aeon and the Root of all that is.

16And His First Thought is called Barbelo, the Mother-Father, the Womb of the All, who beareth the Only-Begotten in glory unspeakable.

17And the Only-Begotten is called the Self-Begotten Christ, the Son of the Living Father, who was anointed before the worlds were.

18And there are four Luminaries who stand about the throne: Harmozel, Oroiael, Daveithai, and Eleleth — the four pillars of the heavenly tabernacle.

19And there is the Triple Male Child, the youth of glory, the Christ the Word, who beareth the seal of the Father upon His brow.

20And there is Pigera-Adamas, the Heavenly Man, the first of the perfect — and his son Seth, the father of the unshakable race.

21These are the names of the holy ones, O Melchizedek, and these names are a fortress unto thee in the day when the adversary shall come against thee.

22For the rulers of darkness shall mock at the Cross. They shall say: He is overcome. They shall say: His kingdom is taken from Him. They shall set their seal of mockery upon His tomb.

23But thou shalt know in thy spirit that He is not overcome — that He hath descended into the deep places to bring up the captives, that He hath broken the gates of brass and the bars of iron.

24And on the third day He shall rise, and the powers of darkness shall flee from before His face, and the host of heaven shall worship Him, saying: Holy, holy, holy is the Lamb that was slain and liveth for ever.

25Therefore, Melchizedek, prepare thy heart. Receive the baptism of the Father, the chrism of the Son, and the seal of the Holy Spirit, that thou mayest stand pure before the throne.

26And take heed unto the words of this revelation. Speak them not before the unworthy. Cast not the pearls of the kingdom before the swine, lest they trample them and turn upon thee.

27But unto the children of the light, and unto the seed of Seth, and unto the holy generation that shall come after thee, declare these things, that they may keep the deposit of faith.

28And the Lord shall remember thee in the day of His coming, for thou hast carried His name in the mortal life, and thou hast offered the bread and the wine in the city of Salem, the city of peace.

29Thus saith Gamaliel, the messenger of the Father, unto Melchizedek the priest, in the year of the world according to the count of the patriarchs.

30And Melchizedek lifted up his hands and worshipped, and said: Lord God of hosts, Thy servant heareth. Be it done according to Thy word, for Thou hast made me a priest of the Most High forever.

Chapter 2

Melchizedek is shown the descent of the Savior into the lower regions, His struggle with the rulers, the cross, and His triumph over the powers.

1And after these things the heavens were opened unto Melchizedek, and he beheld a vision of the descent of the Lord.

2And he saw the Beloved coming down from the bosom of the Father, clothed in the garment of glory, that He might put on flesh in the womb of the virgin.

3And the rulers of this age perceived Him not, for He passed through their watch in silence, even as a king who entereth his own city in disguise.

4And He was born among the lowly, and laid in a manger, and the heavens sang above Him, but the earth knew Him not, save the few who watched and waited.

5And He grew, and went forth in the power of the Spirit, and proclaimed the kingdom, and healed the sick, and cast out devils, and taught the way of the Father.

6But the powers of darkness gathered together against Him. The rulers, the authorities, the world-powers — they conspired to kill the Lord of glory, not knowing that by His death they themselves should be undone.

7And He was taken, and bound, and beaten, and crowned with thorns, and led to the place of the skull. And there they nailed Him to the tree.

8And the false teachers shall say afterward: He suffered not. He felt no pain. The Christ withdrew, and another took His place. But thou, O Melchizedek, hearken unto the truth.

9He suffered in truth. The nails pierced His hands and His feet. The spear opened His side. The blood and the water came forth. And He gave up the ghost, saying: Father, into Thy hands I commend My spirit.

10And He descended into the lower parts of the earth, where the souls of the prisoners were bound. And He preached unto them, and broke the chains of their captivity.

11And the gates of hell could not hold Him. He spoiled principalities and powers, and made a show of them openly, triumphing over them by the cross.

12And on the third day He rose, the firstborn from the dead, and the keys of death and of hell were placed in His hand.

13And He appeared unto His own, and ate with them, and breathed upon them the Holy Ghost, and commanded them to go into all the world and preach the gospel.

14And He ascended on high, leading captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men, even the gift of His Spirit unto them that believe.

15And the angels of God ministered before Him in His ascending, and the four Luminaries bowed before His throne, and the host of the saved ones followed Him in the ranks of glory.

16Now in that day, O Melchizedek, the adversary shall be cast down, and his angels with him. And the great red dragon shall lose his place in the heavens.

17And there shall come the harvest of the earth, when the Son of Man shall send forth His reapers. The wheat shall be gathered into His barn, and the tares shall be bound in bundles to be burned.

18And the holy city shall come down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And the tabernacle of God shall be with men, and He shall dwell with them.

19And there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things shall be passed away.

20And He that sitteth upon the throne shall say: Behold, I make all things new. And the saints shall reign with Him for ever and ever.

21Therefore, Melchizedek, fight the good fight. Keep thy garments unspotted from the world. Endure unto the end, and the crown of life shall be given unto thee.

22For the days of the priesthood are short, but the priesthood itself is eternal. Thou hast received the holy order; thou shalt bear it through the generations of thy seed.

23And in the day of judgment thou shalt stand at the right hand of the Lamb, and they that have received thy blessing shall stand with thee, and the Lord shall acknowledge thee before His Father and the holy angels.

24Now I declare unto thee a hidden thing: even thou, Melchizedek, art a token of Him that cometh. As thou art now in Salem, so shall He stand in Jerusalem. As thou breakest bread and pourest wine, so shall He break His body and pour His blood.

25And thy name shall not perish, for it is written in the Book of Life. And the order which thou bearest shall be given again in the latter days, when the dispensation of the fulness of times is restored.

26For the priesthood of Melchizedek shall not be hidden forever. It shall be brought forth again in the last hour, when the Lord raiseth up His servant to gather Israel from the four corners of the earth.

27And the children of the covenant shall know it, and they shall walk in the holy order, even as thou hast walked. And they shall offer the sacrifice of a broken heart and a contrite spirit before the Lord.

28Thus saith the angel of the Lord unto Melchizedek the high priest. Take heed, and be of good courage. The Lord thy God is with thee.

29And Melchizedek bowed himself unto the earth, and worshipped, and the vision was gone from before his eyes. But the words of the angel were written upon his heart, and he forgot them not.

30And he arose, and went forth in the strength of the Lord, to fulfil the ministry which had been given him, until the day when his work should be finished and he should be received up into glory.

Chapter 3

Melchizedek receives the heavenly liturgy — he names the powers, blesses the assembly of the saints, and is sealed for the eternal priesthood.

1And again the heavens were opened, and Melchizedek beheld the assembly of the holy ones standing about the throne of the Father.

2And he saw the great cloud of glory, and within the cloud the throne, and upon the throne the likeness of a man, and the likeness was as the appearance of fire.

3And before the throne were seven lamps burning, which are the seven Spirits of God, and a sea of glass like unto crystal.

4And Melchizedek lifted up his voice and cried: Holy art Thou, O Father unbegotten. Holy art Thou, O Self-Begotten Son. Holy art Thou, O Spirit of life.

5Holy art Thou, Barbelo, the First Thought of the Father. Holy art Thou, Pigera-Adamas, the heavenly man. Holy art Thou, Seth, the father of the unshakable race.

6Holy are the four Luminaries: Harmozel, Oroiael, Daveithai, and Eleleth — pillars of the holy of holies. Holy are the aeons that minister before them, and the angels that gather about their thrones.

7Holy is Doxomedon, the dwelling of glory. Holy is the Triple Male Child, the youth that beareth the diadem. Holy is the Lord Jesus Christ, the High Priest of the everlasting covenant.

8Glory be unto the Father, and unto the Son, and unto the Holy Spirit, both now and for ever, world without end. Amen.

9And the angels answered with a great voice: Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and honour and glory and blessing.

10And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, did Melchizedek hear saying: Blessing and honour and glory and power be unto Him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb, for ever and ever.

11Then there came forth one of the holy ones, and he stood before Melchizedek, and he said: Receive the seal of the Father.

12And he sealed Melchizedek upon his brow with the sign of the cross, and upon his hands with the sign of the Lamb, and upon his heart with the sign of the Spirit.

13And he gave unto him a white stone, and upon the stone was written a name which no man knoweth save he that receiveth it.

14And he said: This is the new name of thy priesthood. By this name shalt thou be known in the courts of glory, when thou comest up before the throne to minister for ever.

15And he said: Thou hast been faithful in a few things; thou shalt be made ruler over many things. Enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.

16Then Melchizedek looked, and behold, there were saints with him, even the saints of all the generations who had received his blessing and walked in the order of his priesthood.

17And there was Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and the prophets of the holy God, and they that had washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

18And they sang together a new song, saying: Thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by Thy blood, out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; and hast made us kings and priests unto our God: and we shall reign on the earth.

19And the Lord Jesus stood in the midst of them, and He stretched forth His hand unto Melchizedek, and said: Come up hither, my friend, and inherit the kingdom prepared for thee from the foundation of the world.

20And Melchizedek bowed himself before the Lord, and the Lord raised him up, and embraced him, and called him brother.

21And the Lord said: Behold, I have given thee the keys of the order which is after Mine own order. Whosoever thou bindest on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whosoever thou loosest on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

22Go thou therefore, and minister in the city of Salem until thy course be finished. And after thy course, thou shalt come and dwell with Me where I am, and behold the glory which I had with the Father before the world was.

23And Melchizedek answered: Thy will be done, O Lord, on earth as it is in heaven. I am Thy servant, and the son of Thine handmaid: Thou hast loosed my bonds.

24And the vision was sealed, and Melchizedek was returned unto his own place. And he wrote these things in a book, and hid the book in a sure place, that it might come forth in the appointed time.

25And he charged his servants, saying: Keep ye these words. Reveal them not unto the unbelieving, lest they blaspheme the holy mysteries. But teach them unto the children of the covenant, that they may know the way of the High Priest.

26For the day cometh when the records of the holy ones shall be brought forth, and the things which were hidden shall be revealed upon the housetops.

27And the priesthood of Melchizedek shall be made known again in the latter days, in the dispensation of the fulness of times, when the Lord shall gather together in one all things in Christ — both which are in heaven and which are on earth, even in Him.

28Therefore, ye that read these words: stand fast in the faith. Hold the form of sound doctrine. Receive the holy ordinances. Be sealed in the order of the Son of God.

29And the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make you perfect in every good work to do His will.

30Unto Him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
