Chapter 1
1The Spirit of the Lord came unto me and told me: ye are commanded to write into a book all the things ye have been commanded to write, which things came unto thee by way of the Holy Ghost, which cometh from the Father unto thee; wherefore ye are commanded to write and bind all the things ye have written into a book, compiling all things, for the day will surely come when these things shall be read by those who seek the truth like unto thee. I tell thee that I have commanded all my servants from since the beginning to write, and they have written, and some of the things written, ye have them before you and they have given thee light and understanding. It is for that intent, I, the Lord, command things to be written, that it may be like unto the Liahona, to guide man through the mist of darkness thy father wrote of.
2But the spirit further did tell me that it is by the things which are written that all men shall be judged of God, were it not so, then they would be held unaccountable for things they would not know of; but God does not work in confusion and does know which path he has proposed, that his church in all ages might proceed. Thus I am commanded that all men shall have the privilege to read the things I have written that they might come to understanding of how God works his work, even in these days, and that men shall be inspired by revelations which cometh from God of things to come, that they might come to understand things as they were, and that they might come to understand things present, and as they will be; and that they might know and understand that God is the same today, yesterday, and forever.
3And yea, I speak and say: that we are left to lift up an ensign unto the nations of the gentiles, and the prophets say: hear ye indeed, and understand; and see ye indeed, and perceive what hath been written.
4Yea, and I speak and say: that we are the branch broken off, spoken of in the holy writ of God, that hath become wild contrary to nature, and again, we are grafted back into our mother tree from whence we were broken off that the promises might be fulfilled, and we are grafted back into our mother tree for we tell you these things. And the spirit telleth me that we are grafted back into our mother tree, for I write and testify of these things, and it cometh not from a gentile; wherefore, know that this thing hath been fulfilled as prophesied by the fathers of this day.
5Wherefore, the spirit of truth telleth me that if men mock the things I have commanded to be written, then let them judge for themselves and by that same judgment shall they be judged by him from whence all the things I have written cometh.
6Wherefore, do as ye are commanded and much righteousness and blessings shall come to thy seed and to the seed of thy father Joseph, for which thing, all thy fathers have written, that ye might know of truths hidden, even truths revealed unto thee which truth comes from the well of living waters, and that truth will give eternal life unto all those who read and abide by what is written.
7Yea, I have given thee knowledge from time to time; wherefore, prepare thyself to receive greater knowledge as is contained in the records of the fathers, many which are sealed to teach thee things that must shortly come to pass, and the manner and means wherewith I have prepared all things.
8Wherefore, the day is shortly to come in, and in that day, the things written shall be understood and shall be comprehended by my people, that I the Lord have decreed, and I command, and they shall be written, that all may know that I the Lord do my work to fulfill the promises made unto thy fathers for their children; for I have over a period of time, turned thy heart to thy fathers that I smite not the earth with an eternal curse. And thus it is so, wherefore, do what ye are commanded to fulfill the decree of God. Amen.
Chapter 2
1I am given to understand that I am to give a small history of myself, paying particular attention to the things I have learned by way of the spirit, which learning has come from God the Eternal Father, that I might know to chose righteousness over what the world may think.
2As a child, I have been intrigued with spiritual beliefs which came from my fathers, and I paid particular attention to things of the spiritual nature as they were discussed into the late evening. And in interest and hoping to understand beyond what was described to me was to understood what was discussed by them of old, I looked into the night sky, hoping to glimpse things of a spiritual nature, or that I might perceive spiritual manifestations not known to my fathers, in the day-time, as I wandered with the sheep.
3I came to know and understand that the area where I walked was but a little place, so small and unimportant to the world, that my safety was found therein; but around the age of 8 years old, I left for school far among the gentile people. I was on a journey like unto my fathers; Joseph being fetched from the pit, Moses being placed in an ark to flow down the river, the Jaredites crossing the great deep unto the land of promise, the children of Lehi crossing the desert and the great water to come to the land of the first inheritance, and many more before me. Here I came to understand greater truths and greater knowledge was shed upon me, but I was given a view of the Book of Mormon, a record containing the dealings of God with my fathers, from the beginning, with much more information as prepared for me, concerning the Lord's dealing after Lehi's seed came upon this land to fulfill the promises made to the fathers.
4Even among the gentiles, I came to comprehend that I was not like them, and I sought to comprehend the writings of the fathers as found in the Book of Mormon; there were many passages that I could not receive explanation for from my foster father. I maintained those passages of scripture to myself, believing that one day I would understand them. It seemed that in the church much discussion was had among the gentile people concerning the basic principles of the gospel, and nothing was said concerning the remnant and for what purpose the Lord had brought my fathers here upon the land of promise. Notwithstanding what was contained in the scriptures, the gentiles I came to know all had become the house of Ephraim, though I could not understand how they had come over on the same ship my father Lehi came in, being brought by the hand of the Lord.
5When I came to serve the Lord, as a missionary for the church, I came to understand the need for the gentile church leadership to bring into the church men with education and money; but I thought to myself: Why then did the Lord seek the poor and base of the earth? It appeared that the church was applying 3 Nephi 23: 7, relying on the arm of flesh and what man may think, not considering what the Lord has said. For if a man repents, regardless of status in the social structure of man, he will be filled with light and intelligence which cometh of God shall fill him, then why not these people, these Andean Indians? I asked my Heavenly Father why a distinction? I am not any different then they all? I came to better understand my question posed by reading the scriptures as written by my fathers as it pertained to my people opposed to the Andean Indian, and the land whereupon my people dwelled and the Andes Mountains. Wherefore, I came to understand things written as they pertain to the workings of the Lord among all people, and what he expects that must be done among them, even in these days.
6That understanding did not change, but I am filled with understanding that certain things have come to pass and shall come to pass, because it is proposed of the Lord, that the fulness of his gospel shall come to pass or can only be initiated upon the earth, in like fashion. For that reason, my people were smitten and hated, and were scattered upon the face of the earth; and in the fulness of the gentiles, they were scattered and smitten by the gentiles until they are naught; nevertheless, the Lord hath spoken it, and they were given the grace of God that the records of the fathers have come back to them to give a knowledge of their fathers and who they are unto this day; even that the gentiles, both in the church and the government, hath carried them on their shoulder and in their arms, because the Lord hath spoken it. And this act is liken unto them being nourished that what the gentiles did do for them in flesh is temporal, but the spiritual nourishment spoken of shall only come through the seed by the one mighty and strong spoken of by them to us. And they speak of him because they saw him in vision; and this thing I speak of, is only known of them and by us, by the spirit which cometh from God; and the spirit doeth say there are many parts to that prophesy which is a mystery to many. Nevertheless, the mercy and grace of God, is upon them that seek to know and understand this thing, and the Lord shall reveal them if one is diligent and faithful in all things.
7And it is for this intent, I have written the things I have come to understand, and many revelations have I received that the understanding I sought is to know the mysteries hidden to the natural man, and these mysteries have been revealed to me, for my diligence and my faithfulness, to obtain greater knowledge and understanding. In this manner, the Lord hath been merciful and has blessed me in great abundance in knowing the mysteries contained in the records of my fathers, the Lord's dealings with them, and in what manner the promises and covenants of the Lord shall be fulfilled in the days to come.
