The Sons of Levi
chapter · continuous
Chapter 1
I had been studying the accounts as written and provided by the fathers concerning this people; even as recorded in the record saying: I am Limhi, the son of Noah, who was the son of Zeniff, who came up out of the land of Zarahemla to inherit this land, which was the land of their fathers, who was made a king by a voice of the people. And this very people was found by Ammon, in the land of Nephi, north of the land of Shilom (Shemlon), and from there, Ammon did go down into the land of Nephi; and there, Ammon and his brethren were imprisoned until Limhi did visit and talk with them.
The spirit beareth witness to me, and I saw in vision as clear as noon day, with no distortion or misgiving of fact, that when Mulek became aware of the down fall of the Jewish government in Jerusalem and the Jews were taken into bondage by the Babylonian, he did humble himself in mighty prayer and fasting before the Lord, and the spirit of the Lord did fall upon him, that the spirit did make manifest the captivity of the Jews and the bondage of the Jewish people to the distant land of Babylon. Mulek then talked with his father, Zedekiah, and his brothers, concerning what he came to understand, but they did not believe his words and that such a captivity would happen to the Jews, for they believed they were a righteous people. Mulek, then believing in what was prophesied by Jeremiah, the prophet, that he went and spoke to Jeremiah concerning the matter; and that Jeremiah did speak to the Lord, and it was based on the pleading of Jeremiah on behalf of Mulek, that Mulek and his group were spared the destruction and bondage.
Mulek did rehearse what he had been told by Jeremiah concerning the matter, and he did tell Zarahemla, who was a descendant of Zadok, that priest, a lineal descendant of Eleazar; herein is truth, that Zadok's descendants officiated in all rites pertaining to the tabernacle in reverence to David King of Judah. It was through this union that the Lord directed Mulek to take Zarahemla, a Levite priest and a direct descendant of Zadok with him, herein the ark and the covenant of the Lord was likewise taken to the Land of Promise; and for that reason the people were called the people of Zarahemla, and no more mention is made of Mulek, for all things herein done pertains to the order of Aaron through Zadok.
It is a part of the plan of restoration that the sons of Levi be restored to their rightful role and responsibility, and which plan is the plan of salvation unto all those who should be numbered with the people of the Lord, or that the curse of the Lord shall destroy all other people in that day when righteousness shall prevail in the house of the Lord. For this cause, the Lord did bring forth the children of Zadok here upon the land of promise, who were then discovered by the people of Mosiah. There is much written on the subject matter, in the records of Mosiah, but also contained in the records of Zeniff; which records shall be provided in full in days to come. And upon giving the scriptures as contained in the book of Malachi unto our fathers, the Lord did expound on the sons of Levi and their responsibilities, but what the Lord did expound is not contained in the records of the fathers as it came forth by way of the gentiles, unto this day, but they are written upon the plates of third Nephi as given by the Lord. Then, this mystery shall be revealed in full, that all they who seek this truth to establish this Zion, shall know and understand this purpose and the program of the Lord in these days.
Wherefore, the Lord is merciful unto all those who seek to understand this truth, and all truth as they are written in holy writ, and much of the more important things, have come forth unto us by way of the gentiles in these days; and it behooveth all the sons of Nephi to come to understanding this truth whereby knowledge is to be obtained and to be received to empower the seed unto which the arm of the Lord is to be revealed in fulness in days to come. Thus I say, and I speak by the power of the Holy Ghost which giveth utterance of truth eternal: wherefore, for this cause hath the Lord promised these things unto me, and that these things are written that I might come to understanding, while the remainder of the children of Lehi remains in darkness and obscurity because of disobedience. Then the words of Nephi shall come to pass; yea, that these things are written in plainness to be kept and preserved going down from one generation to another generation, that the promise made to our father Joseph should be fulfilled, and this promise is that our seed should be recovered again a second time by the Lord, and not like many believe that this recovery shall be done by the gentiles, that our seed shall come to know of their rightful responsibilities to be performed in the name of the Lord, and that the New Jerusalem might be built in fulfillment of the covenant and promise made to Abraham, our father, that in his seed shall all the kindred of the earth be blessed; and this shall not come to pass, unless the seed of the body of Nephi is first gathered as was promised, and that the sons of Levi do offer an offering in righteousness in the land of the first inheritance. This I know shall come to pass as hast been prophesied for Joseph seed should never perish as long as the earth shall stand, for even as in Abraham, a covenant and promise was made through obedience, and so Joseph was likewise given a covenant and a promise, that through his seed should the New Jerusalem be built on the land of promise in the last days to fulfill the covenant of Abraham.
And because of the Lord, the these things are written to convince them of the true Messiah, they shall be led like calves of a stall to be nurtured and taught of the Lord, like unto their beginning, like in the garden of Eden when our first father was taught, that much righteousness shall exalt the seed that the devil shall not have any power over them for one thousand years.
Theirs, the Levites and Mulekites, was the command to take the ark and the covenant out of the city of Jerusalem, wherein no records or such were taken by them, and in that state of darkness, Mosiah did find this people in the city of Zarahemla. The Lord told Jeremiah that the ark and covenant is not to be taken by the Babylonians to Babylon, but that in the last days, it shall be brought forth again that those who are gathered in the land of the first inheritance might see their heritage, and that the sons of Levi might offer unto God an offering in righteousness, to usher in the times of the New Jerusalem. For this is their birth right and blessing committed unto them of God, as priests of God within the land of the first inheritance.
Wherefore, the seed of Zedekiah and the seed of Levi are among the seed of Lehi unto this day, to bring about the promises of the Lord. Wherefore, know that Abinadi was a Levite, and he did expound on the scriptures as contained in the book of Moses, and for the intent Zeniff had come to possess the land of the first inheritance with much zealousness. Wherefore, Alma was of the same Lineage, much concerning this thing is written on the plates of Alma for future generations.
The ark and the covenant remains archived in the archival storage of the Lord with all other items of importance representing God's dealing with man from since the beginning, and shall remain, until they are given unto the choice seer of the Lord in days to come.
Furthermore, the spirit of truth instructed me that both the Higher Priesthood and the Lesser Priesthood shall be among his people by literal descent and order, for herein are the promises made; it is for this reason, that the priesthood has both remained in the seed to come forth to bear the vessels of the Lord in this day. Wherefore, thus saith the Lord: incline thine ears and heart unto me, supplicate all that thou must know and understand in these days, that I might fill thee full of the knowledge of the Lord, that thou mightest stand before me as a visionary servant to do that which must be done. Amen.
Furthermore, the spirit of the Lord, did expound the scriptures unto me saying: that the seed of Zedekiah, and more fully the seed of Levi, did receive a promise of the Lord for the which they did come to the land of promise to fulfill the promises made to them of old; yea, that the sons of Levi might offer an offering in righteousness unto the Lord in days to come. In this thing, when the timber in the land became very scarce, the people of Lehi did send forth to the land northward much timber for the building of houses. And it came to pass that many of the people of Ammon, of whom I have made particular mention regarding the priestly responsibilities, who were Lamanite by birth, they did also go forth into this land. And there were many records kept of this proceeding.
And Ammon having prayed much on their behalf and knowing the calamities to fall upon the nation of the Nephite did plead with God that he might take his children to another place for their protection, and that one day, they might take their rightful role in the gathering and restoration of the children of Joseph. And God did hear his prayers; yea, even that the covenant the children of Ammon had made with God was maintained and they did not fight by the sword any more, nor did they take the life of any man, even in righteousness. They having made this covenant, though they were of the offspring of Levi, who did cleanse the children of Israel before Moses in the desert, were allowed to be placed in another place, until the time of the full restoration is brought forth. Then in that day, shall the Lord find them and bring them again into the land of the first inheritance to perform the offering requisite to the Lord. There, shall they be purged like silver and purified before the Lord to act in their calling and roles unto the Lord in righteousness.
I am told by the spirit that Limhi or Lemhi means: belonging to God, as it meaneth with the tribe of Levi from the beginning, that God did choose them out from among all the tribes of Israel, and he took them unto himself, for before all Israel they stood with righteousness with Moses that day. For the Lord did say unto Moses: and thou shalt anoint them, as thou didst anoint their father, that they may minister unto me in the priest's office: for their anointing shall surely be an everlasting priesthood throughout their generations. Thus did Moses: according to all that the Lord commanded him, so did he. Wherefore, thus saith in holy writ: and he, Moses, did put upon the sons of Aaron, the coat, and girded him with the girdle, and clothed him with the robe, and put the ephod upon him, and he girded him with the curious girdle of the ephod, and bound it unto him therewith. And he put the breastplate upon him: also he put in the breastplate the Urim and Thimmin. And Moses put the mitre upon his head; and also upon the mitre, even upon his forefront, did he put the golden plate, the holy crown; and the Lord had commanded him did he.
And the spirit saith: unto this day, this anointing given unto the sons of Aaron, those who have been cleansed from the blood of this generation, shall anoint the temple of the Lord in the land of the first inheritance; yea, even in the land of the New Jerusalem shall they offer an offering in righteousness as was intended from the beginning; and in this, shall they bless all of Israel that the work of the Lord spoken of by Daniel shall proceed in majesty for one thousand years. Then in that day, shall the glory of the Lord appear in his Father's house as was decreed from the beginning before the world wast; and how beautiful shall be the feet of them upon the mountains who decree glad tidings of great joy are the true points of the doctrine of Christ, and in that day, the arm of the Lord shall be revealed in fulness, even the fulness of the Father, not as ever hath been and will be again upon this earth. Yea, even that all precepts of men which hath blinded the people of the Lord and the perversions which satan, thereby, hast caused to create darkness and obscurity among the children of men shall be done away with; that righteousness and truth shall prevail which shall order all things.
Then shall we, the children who are numbered, rejoice and commence the millennial work preparing all things for the New Jerusalem to come, that our hearts shall return unto our fathers and the hearts of our fathers shall return unto us, we their children, that heaven and earth shall be inseparably connected as wast in the beginning. The spirit telleth me that in that day of which I write, the work of the Lord shall be commenced and completed with our forefathers working at our sides, for they shall be among us. For this is the fulness of the gospel and the fulness of the restoration, for we shall receive of the fulness of the Father and the Son perform what it is that was promised, and nothing shall be withheld no more, and all things shall be revealed, and great righteousness shall prevail and satan shall have no power over men for one thousand years.
I was to write no more concerning these things for the present, and I was commanded to write them up, that the knowledge of these things might come unto the children of men. Amen.
